Regrettably there is supposed to be a cute little dash kind of thing on top of the 'o' in Sigur Ros. We can't find it on the keyboard, but to describe it quickly; it's the sort of dash that sits on an unusual angle and kind of tips its hat to the letter before it (in this case the R of Ros). There's a real Icelandic cool about this dash - as there is about their album Takk. A musically euphoric journey that is almost fjord-like in its swells of strings, rapids of drums and lazy calms of chords.
At this point, anyone who knows a good CD review will tell you that this is giving sweet FA by which to actually assess the album. In our defence we say that Sigur Ros have created something so beautifully strange that it can't quite be described, and so you should visit their site and at least sample the album. What we can tell you is that you may feel like laughing and crying at the same time and if you have taste, Takk will wind its way into your collection.
