For those who have just joined us, Goldfrapp weren't always hedonistic dance floor fillers, using synth-pop melodies and gyrating beats to seduce us into a riotous party. Many moons ago, with their debut of the year 2000, the London duo gave the world a beautifully dark minimalist sound scape known as Felt Mountain. That subdued image was violently replaced by the Goldfrapp we know today- the fist-raising, talc-powder-scuffing electro-chic saviours whose flag was raised in the form of 2003s Black Cherry.
Like a suppressed childhood memory brought back into cognition, Supernature sees a beautifully balanced album that makes reference to both of Goldfrapp's personalities. In sticking to what they do best, Supernature is a solid and well-polished album. Like driving at speed while putting on make-up in the rearview, Goldfrapp have produced something that is both beautiful and dangerous.
