Released last September, Leo Magnets Joins A Gang is the debut from Sydney's The Curse of Company. And it's a grower. Full of skillful production and subtle hooks, it keeps getting better and better... As a showcase for the songwriting of David Wiley Rennick from Dappled Cities, (with help from redsunband's Sarah Kelly, Mr Bungle / Secret Chiefs 3's Danny Heifetz, Jack Ladder, and Gerling's Burke Reid) Leo Magnets is an impressive collection of ornate, scuzzy baroque-and-roll; picture Lee Hazelwood and Grizzly Bear scoring a film. Standouts include the Sarah Kelly sung ‘Any Day', with its sparse, heart-aching Mazzy Star beauty, and the bittersweet pop of ‘Homecoming'.
