It's a classic tale. Disillusioned director hurls crummy footage into stormy seas, slips and tumbles after it. Lightning strikes, fusing man with the cursed video he sought to destroy. Visionary guitar wielding monster emerges, records an album and hits the road. So goes the legend of The Mysterious Tape Man. Self confessed "human embodiment of the unexplainable realm between man and tape."

Tape Man washed ashore in 2003 and went platinum in New Zealand, selling all 50 copies of his debut album Born to Die. His haunting swampy surf instrumentals speak the language of the briny depths from whence he came. Deeply influenced by Link Wray and The Mummies, Tape Man summons the spirit of Poseidon through gutteral reverberating riffs. Known only to aficionados in Melbourne, back home he's big news.

While touring in Sardegna Tape Man was killed in a head-on smash. His record label, Stink Magnetic, released this statement explaining the circumstances of his death. Scientists recovered mangled tape from the wreckage and worked tirelessly to 'dub' his remains three times, creating electro-magnetic supergroup... THE TAPE MEN. Two members have left to pursue other careers so all that is left is GHOST OF TAPE MAN. Here touring his new 7". Feel and hear his presence.
