"Bands, those funny little plans, that never work quite right" - Mercury Rev

How the hell bands form in the first place, let alone stay together, is beyond me. After a false start (and interpersonal bitch-fight meltdown and break-up) as Skeletal Explosive, we have Bearhug - five guys from Sydney writing great, nonchalant indie rock.

What's refreshing about Bearhug is they don't sound like a new band who formed to sound EXACTLY like some other band; their music sounds natural, unstudied - it's fun and invigorating. Sure there's influences to be heard (Joan of Arc or Broken Social Scene), but they're hardly recognisable, and their sound is definitely their own.

In addition to having their song 'Snow Leopard' featured on the excellent Spunk Singles Club comp, you can now download their demo EP for free here. Hopefully they'll last a little longer than their former selves.
