Strut Records is a UK-based boutique label that stumbled a bit and is coming back strong. After releasing the first two discs in the 'Disco Not Disco' series, the level of unreleased, old, significant music that they were able to put together for compilations went downhill, fast. No matter how slighted 'Spasticus Autisticus' was when it was released, it doesn't need to show up on more than one of your compilations.

But they have come back on fire with their last two releases. The August Darnell story has more ‘80s New York underground disco jams than a re-enactment of Disco Demolition Day (tear). The Calypsoul compilation is a steam liner of soul and funk music straight from the Carribbean. Both are putting Strut back on the map as far as unique and possibly timeless compilations go, which is exactly what the label needed if they were to stay relevant.
