Karl Marx once said that religion is the opium of the masses but in Melbourne it would seem that alcohol is the new religion. This is not only because we don't have opium (or do we?) but because there are so many rad bars to wet your whistle. However, being dumb is fun after all and there is no better place to eradicate a few brain cells than Troika. And what's more, here you can look pretty cool while you do it.
Given the ugliness and apathy of our politicians, Troika, with its faux-soviet theme, is probably as close to a revolution as Australia is ever going to get. At this boutique bar the stubby is the new sickle and pinot the new plough. So forget about socialism, scrap your manifesto, cash in your communist badge and think about a beverage instead of political leverage. After all people are never more equal than after a few drinks.
