Hey Melbourne, as of 4pm today, get ready for "a breath of fresh beer air in a world of same same." Somewhat confusingly The Pond is not a body of water, it's a short-term pop-up bar that is brought to us by Pure Blonde.

The whole idea behind the bar is to breathe new life into an ugly urban space and so a derelict courtyard and a laneway has been converted with the cunning use of plants, recycled garden pots, and some amazing BOSE speakers that look like mushrooms. While The Pond is packed with trees, shrubs, herbs and plants of all sizes it isn't so much a rumble in the jungle as a laze on the deck, soak up the sun, sink a few cold ones kind of thing.

Highlights include Tom Adelaide's genius 27 hours of lo-fi audio bliss, the re-used silver birch grove entry, the organic food menu, the hops growing six inches a day and the certified plantation pine furniture that doesn't give you splinters.
