From the team behind St Jerome's and Sister Bella comes a new little chick hatching before our eyes, this time in the form of café-cum-bar Bird Brain. While it's early days here, this is the time to get on board and come help scuff up the polished concrete. The walls are still bare but the chalkboard promises tasty treats to come, in the form of chunky foccacias given kooky names such as 'Corny Cow' and 'Liver Cleanser'.
These can be washed down with Coopers, wine, or one of their excellent coffees. In a break away from Jerome's tradition, skinny and soy milk will be begrudgingly on offer here, which should please the slightly older, suit-clad crowd. But don't let that scare you hipster kids away, for much is still sacrosanct about Bird Brain. Food is served on red plastic plates, and after dark the lights are down and the drinks will be flowing. The concrete should need a scrub in no time.
