The Spanish have it down tight when it comes to good eating; taking your time, digesting, having a listen to conversations around you, and savouring your company like your wine is the ethos behind it all. Friendly, talkative and communal, Bar Lourinha offers some of the finest tapas and European wine in the city.
The menu is exquisite, packed full of intriguing and vibrant ingredient combinations made the freshest produce. While sipping the perfect Grenache you can indulge yourself with single serve oysters, the massaged elegance of ‘raw meat to eat’ wagyu, mop up the juice from your octopus stifado with crusty bread, or refresh your spoilt palate with the cabbage, mint and sheep’s milk feta. It feels decadent but it’s simply all about good food appreciation and revelling in new flavours.
The staff’s passion for what they are serving is feverishly apparent and even rushed off their feet they take the time to engage with each and every customer. Altogether, it makes it very easy to eat, drink, and forget about work tomorrow in the hands of this little gem.

ThreeThousand is a subcultural guide to Melbourne, published daily and fired by email weekly. It is compiled by an amorphous gaggle of Melbourne writers, stylists, designers and photographers who all like huddling under that big umbrella we like to call creativity. Without editorial independence ThreeThousand has nothing. All editorial you read is featured because it's worth it - not because it's paid for.
