While they've been busy reinventing themselves the last few years, Thee Oh Sees have really blossomed. It seems that once Dwyer nailed the coffin lid down on his noisy-garage-punk outfit The Coachwhips, a lot of what made them so special has found its way into the previously folk and psych -oriented OCS, or Ohsees, or Thee Oh Sees I guess it is these days.
When looking over Three Thousand's Google analytics a few shocking things stand out. Firstly, all of you freaks can't stop clicking on the keyboard cat link from 113 issues ago. Really, get over it. More importantly though, everyone in the world clicked on our 2008 link to Print Liberation - a tiny little Philadelphia based duo who's designs are pure genius.
You've probably never heard these guys but there's a good chance Acrassicauda's story has ended up close to your ear. This heavy metal band isn't special because they're harder, or more raw, or have faster double bass hits - they do all of that great - they're special because of how they ended up in Elizabeth, New Jersey.
Everyone agrees that She & Him, the unexpected project of Zooey Deschanel and M. Ward, is pretty great. It probably has something to do with the fact that Zooey has successfully charmed every single person in the world, but beyond her acting and dancing skills, this girl can totally sing.
She truly is the whole quirky indie dream girl package, minus that being married to Ben Gibbard thing.
