Joost Bakker is without a doubt one of Melbourne's most resourceful men, creating incredible industrial flower displays, furniture, installation art and other mind-blowing pieces from detritus he finds out and about in his daily travels.
His Greenhouse project is a self-sustaining event venue built to operate for a short period down in Fed Square.
The only bad thing about the Fitzroy Pool is that there really aren't too many decent cafes within walking distance where you can grab breakfast before stretching out on the pool wall and thumbing your nose at the Anti-Cancer Council. Ici (on Gore Street) is OK but usually packed to the brim and there are too many architectural haircuts.

Unless you are looking for a skirt that only just covers your rude bits or you feel like doing battle with Albury Wodonga's Competitive Shopping Team. Things do get a little more palatable when you cross Church Street: The Richmond Farmer's Markets for fresh veg, Living Edge should you want to casually buy an Eames chair and now Bosisto's Liquor Bar.
Fitzroy Gardens is undeniably one of Melbourne's daytime delights. Ice cream vans. Peaceful Falun Gong practitioners. A greenhouse and statues. I once saw people rooting there which was weird but strangely exciting because I was only about 15. Then there's the moments when frisbee meets family picnic with terrifying results.
